Adding prefix to Object ID

How do I add a prefix to an object ID? For example, in a Technical Performance Specification, I would like to add "TPS" in front of the system generated Object IDs (ie. TPS-5195.

Is this something that must be done with DXL?

Thank you.

Open module in Exclusive edit mode, select File / Module properties, change the value for module attribute "Prefix".

Or in DXL

Module m = current
m."Prefix" = "YYY"

... in this case "TPS-". Then save the module :)

By convention its a good idea that the Prefix accurately reflects which module it's in. As you get more complicated Projects you will find that you want to be able to turn a Prefix only, such as "XYZ_11", into an exact object in the Project. That will require that there only be one module with prefix XYZ_ in the project, preferably module named "XYZ".

The Prefix should always end in a dash or underscore. Imagine Prefix "Mod01", which will generate confusing Object Identifiers like "Mod01823" and "Mod011".

Got it sorted. Thanks for the advice. I'm sure I'll be back for more!
